Kimberley Murphy-Lyons

Painter Kimberley Murphy-Lyons grew up in Louisville, Kentucky in a family of artists. After various stints as a writer, waitress, and graphic designer, she began painting in 2002. Her work explores cultural history, childhood memories, and the landscape of dreams. With the layering of color and textures with found objects, she hopes to prove that there is no such thing as a "mistake" as every mark and brush stroke lends itself to a more powerful, richer painting.

Her paintings are primarily non-representational but hint at structures, stories, and scenes from memory.

Kimberley is a resident artist at the Columbia Pike Artist Studios. She is also founder of KidCollage, a children's art conservation project. She resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
