Membership Information

Becoming a Member: Arlington artists who wish to join the Alliance are asked to submit an application.

Please print the membership application, complete the form and and mail it with with a check for the membership fee.

Monthly Meetings: The Alliance currently holds meetings on the second Sunday of the month at 3:00 PM on the third floor of Little Falls Presbyterian Church, 6025 Little
Falls Rd. Arlington, Virginia. The meetings include discussions about upcoming shows in which members can choose to participate, new venues for exhibits, interaction with Arlington County, and changes in procedures. Members also sign up for gallery work assignments for upcoming shows. It's also a chance to get to know the other Alliance members.

Communication: Most of our communication is handled via email. If you do not have or plan to get an email account, please buddy-up with another member who does, so that you can stay informed. Emails typically include:

  • Monthly meeting notes
  • Updated membership list
  • Gallery work assignments
  • Late-breaking news
  • Offers of supplies or resources by other member

Standards: It is in all of our best interests to have high standards for the quality of work displayed under the aegis of the Arlington Artists Alliance. Our work should look professional. This applies to framing, matting, mounting, and (of course) the art itself. Please note the following requirements for work displayed at Alliance shows:

  • Mats should be cleanly cut, with no ragged edges or wavy cuts.
  • All pieces to be hung must have wire and screw-type hangers. Please do not use sawtooth hooks.
  • No cardboard on the backs of paintings. Please use foam-core or brown paper as professional framers do.

On occasion, members have submitted artwork that doesn't measure up to what we feel is a professional standard. Please bring in your best work to ensure this does not happen.

Labels: Each piece of art should have a neat, legible label attached indicating the artist's name, the title, the medium, and the price. Many members use their business cards for this purpose.
