A long and successful legal career hid Mike’s artistic talent and creativity. However, since retiring from the international law firm Ogletree Deakins in 2016, he is completely devoted to painting. His favorite medium is acrylics. His subjects and style derive from art study, art acquisition and extensive work and travel in the United States, Europe and Latin America.

In painting landscapes with varying degrees of impressionism and abstraction, Mike says acrylics allow spontaneity and unique opportunities for development of emerging images, real or imagined. Ambiance, mood and even subject matter can be changed midstream. Fuzzy edges can be employed to suggest details that are just out of sight. His favorite compliment about a painting is: “It makes want to be there.”
