Cecily captures how the mood of our capitol’s skyline adapts to the time of day or prevailing weather. “Genus Loci” is a series of acrylic and oil paintings revealing the effects of light and weather along the Potomac River. As a native to the area, the artist has often been inspired by the beauty of the city as she drove along George Washington Parkway. The artist started her experiments leading to this series years ago, culminating in a full-fledged commitment to the series last year. This particular body of work was created in 2008 giving full voice to the ongoing joy of her subject matter and vision.
