Joel Clark

Joel Clark works in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, pastel, and charcoal. His motifs include landscape, still life, abstract, and the human figure. Influenced by several artistic schools, including neo-impressionism, cubism, surrealism and abstract expressionism, Joel is comfortable working in large and smaller formats. In all his projects, Joel strives to capture a sense of immediacy through color and unique composition: “I prefer to work plein air, or with the subject at hand, I prefer not to paint from photographs.” Joel’s recent solo shows include Century 21 and Cosi at Courthouse. His painting, Sacred Text, was awarded Top 21 in the 2008 Washington Color School show, juried by Sam Gilliam. Pictured: Late Autumn Pastoral (acrylic,36x48 in. sold), Sunflowers (oil, 24x36 in.), Cubist Still Life (acrylic,18x24).His painting, Sacred Text, was awarded Top 21 in the 2008 Washington Color School show, juried by Sam Gilliam.
