ANNA KATALKINA is contemporary still life painter. She specializes in small format work and the Old Dutch Masters' technique, applying many layers of translucent glazing to create luminous colors and smooth surfaces. Her work balances seriousness and whimsy and is inspired by European travel and the performing arts.

Anna was born and raised in Saint Petersburg. After 1992, she lived in London and Birmingham, AL, and since 2001, in Northern VA. Anna started painting at an early age. Her academic training includes study at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under Prof. Gary Chapman, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, the studio of a Maroger technique painter Robert White, and online workshops by the Grand Central Atelier and the New York Academy of Art.

Anna’s work has been exhibited throughout the DMV area, across the US and internationally in Paris. Her solo exhibition at Touchstone Gallery received a positive review in The Washington Post. In the fall of 2025, she has been selected to participate in Women Artists of the DMV Survey, hosted by the McLean Project for the Arts and other venues across the DMV area. Her paintings can be found in private collections in the US, the UK, and France. In addition to her artistic practice, Anna holds a BA in French from UAB and a MA in Cultural Diplomacy from Georgetown University, and regularly travels to London and Paris.
