Bruce Williams

Bruce Williams was born in Arlington, Virginia in the late 50’s. He was raised and educated in Northern Virginia.

Bruce wanted to capture his natural talent with drawing and painting. It wasn’t until 1991 when he observed the National Gallery of Arts “Circa 1492” exhibit that inspired him to pursue developing that raw, undirected talent.

Bruce started attending classes at the Art League in Old Town Alexandria. This pushed him to continue his art education at Northern Virginia Community College, receiving his associates in Fine Art. At this time, he maintained a studio at Reeb Hall, located in Arlington, Virginia. He continued his education at George Mason University, receiving a BFA in Fine Arts in 2003, with a concentration in Sculpture.

Bruce works in oil, acrylic and a touch of water color. His main focus has turned to sculpture. He works in clay, plastilina, stone, wood and wax. He makes his own molds and does most of his own casting in plaster and concrete. His current paintings are a series of the classic Barbie and Ken, they’re playful and nostalgic for those who grew up in the 1960’s.

This past year Bruce has added black and white medium format film photography to his resume.
