Kathy Stoner is a maker of artisan tin jewelry, tin wall art, and painted paper collages.
She uses lithography from decorative tins to make colorful, funky earrings and necklaces. She deconstructs the tins, then cuts and forms the tin shapes. She puts the jewelry pieces together with embellishments, including glass and polymer beads and pearls. She enjoys the contradiction of taking discarded objects like tin cans and making them into stylish adornment.
Her whimsical folk art collages are made of hand painted papers, many repurposed or recycled. Her subject matter explores the confluence of nature and emotion.
In 2013, she juried into the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia, where she continues to maintain a studio. Her work has been displayed at Workhouse Arts Center, Del Ray Artisans in Alexandria, VA, and Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, MD.
