Margaret Alvord is a native of Arlington, Virginia, and a studio and plein air painter working in oil and watercolor. An avid traveler, she carries her sketchbook and paint kit wherever she goes, capturing scenes across the United States and abroad. Much of her work reflects the quiet beauty of the rural Mid-Atlantic landscape and the coastal character of Maine.

Margaret earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from West Virginia University and studied at the Corcoran School of the Arts, where she focused on watercolor and figure painting under A. Brockie Stevenson. After a career in the corporate and government world, she returned to art and continues to study in watercolor and oil painting with artist Steve Fleming.

Her work explores the interplay of light, color, and atmosphere, inviting viewers into moments of stillness and connection with the natural world. Margaret is married and has a son, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter.
