Mark was a West Coast artist (now living in Virginia), who worked as a professional photographer for decades in Southern California. His photographic experience included: staff photographer for a theatre company, contributor to a bodybuilding magazine, shooting model portfolios, weddings, and exhibiting in local art fairs. He began painting while living in Seattle, where he had the opportunity to explore the Pacific Northwest for 26 years. His paintings are inspired by the natural world, from the mossy dense forests of Washington and British Columbia, and the rugged coasts of Oregon and Northern California, to the emerald waters of the Caribbean. Artists who have inspired Mark’s work include: Dale Chihuly, David Hockney, Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko, William Baziotes, Helen Frankenthaler, and many other familiar modern artists.
Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and he studied photography at the college level. After retiring from over 30 years as an IT professional, he has devoted himself to painting.
