Nancy Walsh

NL (Nancy L) Walsh is an artist specializing in photography-based digital art and fine art photography. She grew up in Virginia, then went to the University of Notre Dame and the University of Virginia School of Law. She practiced law in Washington, D.C., then became a stay-at-home mom, throughout which time her art has been a constant. Nancy performed with improv comedy troupes for over a decade, which infuses her point of view with humor and whimsy. Her images have appeared in gallery exhibits, publications and art shows, and hang in private collections throughout the U.S. and internationally.  

"I make my art to capture moments of beauty, energy, or emotion that stand out as worthy of remembering, so they aren’t lost in time. I describe my genre as mixed media photography-based digital art. My digital photos are the starting point. Sometimes what I photograph represents just the seed of an idea, or the broad outlines of a composition I want to complete, so the final image may not end up resembling the original photo. My process includes using photo editing and digital art technology to modify and transform it to achieve my vision for the finished piece. I may also employ printmaking techniques, collage, combining photographs, and drawing by hand. I aim to create memorable, unique images that elicit viewers’ emotions, engage the imagination and intrigue the eye."
