UN|NATURAL
A Group Exhibition by the Students of the Arlington Career Center
Dates: May 30 – June 30, 2023
First Friday Opening Reception: Friday, June 2, 2023 5-7pm
"The word natural refers to something that occurs or exists in the world that does not involve human intervention or influence. But is there really any part of this planet that isn’t touched by humans in some way? Our very existence goes against the natural order. We all claim to love nature, and yet, it is dwindling all around us."
This powerful statement and theme was developed by students of the Arlington Career Center (ACC) for their second annual student show, UN | NATURAL. Over 50 ACC high school students are showcasing their artwork in Gallery Underground throughout the month. A variety of mediums will be featured including photography, digital art, painting, sculpture, and mixed media on canvas.
Arlington Artists Alliance members worked with select ACC classes this Spring by giving demonstrations in painting, graphic design, and mixed media. Leading up to the show, Alliance artists collaborated with ACC students to help frame their work and discuss the business side of the art world. Students engaged with AAA and Gallery Underground directors to learn what it takes to curate a successful show. This collaboration will culminate in an opening reception on June 2nd from 5pm-7pm, and awards will be given to the students. Please join our reception to celebrate our young artists, and be inspired.
Thank you to Blick Art Materials for supplying all of the frames in the exhibition, and to We the Pizza for providing reception snacks.
