Wish You Were Here

A Solo Show by Medina Roberts

Dates: January 30 - February 23, 2024

First Friday Opening Reception: Friday, February 2, 2024, 5-7 pm

This February, Gallery Underground presents Wish You Were Here, a solo show by Medina Roberts. In a series of large-scale paintings depicting DC’s City Center, are included the words “Wish You Were Here” — painted in dedication to Syd Barrett, the original front man of Pink Floyd, who, in 1968, left the group after his mental and physical health struggles due to heavy drug use.

"I’m speaking out through my work as we are not talking enough — not doing enough — not informing enough about mental health and addiction," states Roberts about her exhibition. The artist will donate a portion of her sales from this show to the Addiction Policy and Practice Program at the Georgetown University Master of Science department.

Dates: January 30-February 23, 2024; Gallery Hours M-F 10AM-6PM
Opening Reception: Friday, February 2, 2024, 5-7PM

Our opening reception will feature live music by Danielle Kelly, an active musician in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Carolina and has performed with ensembles including the Summerville Orchestra, Carolina Wind Symphony, and DC Strings Workshop.
